Snellman Group: Greenstep brings confidence and support to legal and sustainability work
Snellman Group has found a partner in Greenstep that adapts flexibly to the changing needs of its business. Recently, the collaboration has focused particularly on legal and sustainability services, where timely support and up-to-date expertise have proven to be critical success factors.
“We have been purchasing legal services from Greenstep for over a year now. We have a very small legal team, so we thought it would be useful to have a ‘go-to partner’ to support us when needed. Above all, we were looking for a sense of security in our day-to-day work and extra hands during peak workloads. When our own expertise or time is not enough, it is reassuring to know that help is available and that matters are handled within a reasonable timeframe and cost,” says Johanna Kauppinen, Legal Counsel at Snellman Group.
Smooth collaboration from the start
According to Kauppinen, cooperation with Greenstep got off to a smooth start, even though the partner was previously unknown to them. Trust was built quickly thanks to the consultants’ strong expertise and service-oriented approach.
“I have purchased legal services for over 20 years and know that it is not always straightforward. Greenstep has responded to our needs exceptionally well – they react quickly to our requests and deliver high-quality work. Communication with the consultants is clear and open, which brings confidence to our operations,” Kauppinen explains.
Reliability when it matters most
The collaboration has not been limited to day-to-day advisory work; it has also supported significant business milestones. One of the most memorable moments was handling two acquisitions simultaneously in different countries.
“We acquired two different companies in two countries during the same week. I was not in Finland at the time, and there was uncertainty about whether I would make it in time. Despite that, I felt calm, because I knew Greenstep was responsible for the process. And everything went really well,” Kauppinen praises.
Stronger structure for sustainability efforts
Sustainability has long been an important theme for Snellman Group, but Greenstep has brought greater clarity and structure to the work. Support has included, among other things, double materiality assessment and the development of a climate transition plan.
“We needed more structure in our work and expert support for reporting. The sustainability landscape is evolving rapidly, and although many of the topics have been new to all of us, we have been able to find solutions and move forward according to our objectives,” says Vilma Wiitakorpi-Björkman, Director of Communications and Sustainability.
An expert partner that also challenges thinking
According to Wiitakorpi-Björkman, one of the most valuable aspects of the collaboration has been Greenstep’s ability to challenge thinking in a constructive way. This has helped Snellman Group develop its ways of working and discover new perspectives. “I truly appreciate the attitude of Greenstep’s experts – they believe in our success, bring in their own perspectives, and are not afraid to challenge our thinking. From here, we will continue our sustainability work with even greater ambition. We have learned a lot from Greenstep, and working with them has been enjoyable. I can warmly recommend Greenstep as a partner,” Wiitakorpi-Björkman concludes.
