Greenstep advises Aclima AS in acquisition of Finland’s largest sock manufacturer

Norwegian company Aclima AS has acquired Finnish sock manufacturer Sukkamestarit Oy. Greenstep was responsible for the buyer's financial and tax due diligence and acted as financial advisor in the acquisition negotiations.

Two specialists come together in an acquisition

Aclima is a Norwegian manufacturer of specialist wool clothing, founded in 1939. It is known for high-performance products for demanding conditions, made for outdoor enthusiasts and professionals. Through the acquisition, Aclima wanted to strengthen its range and its Nordic manufacturing.

Sukkamestarit is Finland’s largest sock manufacturer. Founded in 1996, the company specialises in developing and manufacturing high-quality technical merino wool socks. It has a production facility in Ylöjärvi and serves both the outdoor and professional markets.

The acquisition complements Aclima’s base-layer and mid-layer collections with specialist expertise in sock development and manufacturing. Both companies have experience supplying products for outdoor and defence use, where quality and performance are critical. With Sukkamestarit, Aclima gains a centre of excellence for sock development and manufacturing, creating a strong foundation for significantly expanding this part of its collection.

The acquisition strengthens Nordic manufacturing

The acquisition adds a new factory to Aclima’s production network and strengthens the company’s European value chain. The combined business has revenue well above NOK 500 million and 186 employees.

In the company’s press release, Aclima CEO Christian Lodgaard says that the acquisition of Sukkamestarit supports the company’s strategy exceptionally well. Aclima’s sock collections and production will be strengthened, raising its position among outdoor and professional users.
