The collaboration between Lappset and Greenstep began in 2022, when Lappset set out to calculate the carbon footprints of its products. Although sustainability had been a priority since the company’s founding, an evolving world and tightening regulations made it essential to stay up to date.
“We had very specific needs when it came to calculating our product carbon footprints. We had already conducted a life cycle analysis back in 1997 and repeated the process in 2001. At that time, we even developed our own LCA calculator and published our first Environmental Product Declaration. But of course, a lot has changed since then, and we needed to ensure our reporting is current. We sought guidance to navigate the applicable standards, identify a starting point, collect the right data, and understand the required level of detail," Pyykkö explains.

According to Pyykkö, the collaboration with Greenstep has brought multiple benefits to the organization. It has increased internal awareness and sparked more interest in developing sustainable processes and working toward shared goals.
“Greenstep has helped our people understand that how you do things really does matter. In the context of sustainability, it's crucial to know your goals and how to reach them. You also need to be transparent about your actions and able to communicate them clearly to different stakeholders,” she says.
