VSME (Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs) is a voluntary reporting standard for sustainability reporting specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The VSME is a clear and flexible reporting framework that helps companies get started with sustainability reporting. It also meets the needs of companies' stakeholders: the standard is designed to address the sustainability-related information that, for example, financiers and business partners most frequently request from companies.
How to report?
There are two options for VSME reporting:
- Basic (basic module)
- Comprehensive (basic + comprehensive modules)
The basic module is mandatory, i.e. it is the minimum requirement for VSME reporting. Reporting under the basic module includes, for example, information on the company's emissions and basic information on personnel, health and safety at work.
Comprehensive reporting provides more in-depth information and includes, for example, a climate risk assessment, emission reduction targets and the company's human rights policies and procedures.
How to start VSME reporting?
There are three simple steps to VSME reporting:
- Identify the relevant sustainability issues to report on.
- Collect the necessary information on the relevant sustainability issues.
- Prepare the report.
