Dayton Group: Growth and Renewal with the Support of NetSuite and Greenstep

Dayton Pekka Tiainen

Dayton Group is a 102-year-old Finnish family-owned company operating in Finland and the Baltics. The company provides comprehensive solutions for the food industry – from equipment and furnishings to installation and maintenance. Collaboration with Greenstep began in 2020, when the group needed to invest in a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

“Before that, we had two legacy systems in use, serving mainly reporting needs. We realized it was time to modernize and move to a cloud-based solution that would allow us to focus on developing our business. We chose Oracle NetSuite, and selected Greenstep as our partner for the implementation as well as for the system’s ongoing development,” explains Pekka Tiainen, CEO of Dayton Group.

A comprehensive ERP system supports daily operations and drives development

Since then, NetSuite has become the foundation of Dayton’s daily operations, supporting employees across the organization. According to Tiainen, the system has freed up staff time for more value-adding work such as business development and customer interactions. With NetSuite’s versatile features, the group has also taken bigger steps forward, for example by improving the efficiency and transparency of its maintenance network.

“NetSuite supports the daily work of all our employees; no goods come in or go out without this system. In addition, it provides us with essential business data and creates a strong basis for further development. We’ve been operating in this environment for four years now, and it has proven to be a truly valuable investment,” Tiainen describes.

Modern IT infrastructure creates a solid foundation for growth

As a natural continuation of modernizing its ERP system, Dayton also decided to upgrade its broader IT infrastructure. To support this, Greenstep provided an Interim CIO service, which helped analyze critical development areas and harmonize systems across the group. As a result, system reliability is now at a high level, and processes have become more cost-efficient.

“The interim solution has been excellent for us, as it ensures we always have up-to-date expertise in-house and access to Greenstep’s full team of specialists whenever needed. Greenstep’s willingness to learn our business model and develop practical solutions has significantly improved our operations. We spar openly and challenge each other, and what’s especially valuable is their ability to find straightforward solutions without unnecessary complexity,” Tiainen notes.

A long-term partnership that delivers results

According to Tiainen, collaboration with Greenstep has been smooth and based on trust. Development work is guided by clear, jointly prepared plans and schedules, with monthly meetings to review future priorities.

“I can warmly recommend Greenstep as a partner. Every company needs dependable partners, and Greenstep has shown that they are genuinely interested in us and ourbusiness. It is also important that the key people have remained the same over the years. In development projects, Greenstep’s consultants clearly state their views, and project execution has been both smooth and highly effective,” Tiainen concludes.
