Expert to Consultant - training program

The objective of this training program is to coach experts to be proactive consultants. The consultant acts alongside the client as a proactive problem solver, whose actions support and increase the competitiveness of the client. The training is interactive and thus effectively increases the competence of the entire organization.

Module 1. As an expert in a changing work environment

  • The objective of the training is to provide a general idea of the changes in the expert’s operating environment
  • The training includes the core subjects of the changes, which may be, for example, digitalization, expectations of the customer, and changes in the overall working life
  • The learning objective is to provide an understanding of the changes in the personal area of expertise and in the expert work and to evoke an understanding of the possibilities and challenges career development offers


Module 2. The key elements of consulting work

  • The objective of the training is to provide an understanding of the framework of the consulting work compared to the traditional expert work
  • The training includes discussion on the relationships between the expert’s substance and the consultant’s competence, and how the expert can concretely develop their competence towards the consultant’s objectives of competence

Module 3. Problem-solving skills

  • The objective of the training is to provide an understanding of the importance of self-direction and problem-solving skills
  • The training includes case exercises related to the expert’s professional skills which support problem-solving skills and the organization’s competence and sense of community
  • The learning objective is to provide abilities to independently seek solutions to the problems of the personal area of expertise and to utilize the competence and development of the organization better


Module 4. Self-management

  • The objective of the training is to increase the staff’s awareness of the working life skills that support the consulting work
  • The training includes participatory exercises that strengthen self-knowledge and working life skills to support the organization’s culture and values in practice
  • The learning objective is to provide concrete tools for self-management in skills and work
